Project Detail
Specialist pool construction contractor Commercial Aquatics Australia (CAA) enlisted Davey to provide a water treatment and filtration solution for the A$38 million redevelopment of Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Center (MARC), which has transformed a tired, over utilised swimming centre into an ultra modern community facility.
The two key factors in Davey securing the job over three other contractors were the reputation and quality of the Davey ISOspec® pumps, and the ability to provide local support services from the Bibra Lake Western Australia Regional Office.
The aquatic refurbishment consisted of an upgrade to the existing 25m indoor pool, reconstruction of a large freeform leisure pool with water playground, a brand new 50m eight lane outdoor with movable boom, and a 25m program pool for aqua aerobics, overflow, and other activities, plus a new spa and sauna.
Davey’s custom designed solution met the hydraulic design specification (duty point), the material specification and the overall efficiency issued by design engineers CAA with the majority of the pumps being Davey ISO standard close coupled motor pumps of cast iron construction with bronze impellers and featuring optional seal flushing and Dulux Armourspray® VL gloss internal coating.
Wendy Cole, Supervisor Aquatic Operations, Recreation Centres, for the City of Mandurah, manages the aquatic operations of the centre and can’t fault the Davey product or service.
“Davey supply the high endequipment that pools need, and they seem to be the only ones I know that do it. They really do have a good niche in the market, and they do a really good pump – it’s very reliable,” she says. “When we call the service guys at All Pumps and Waterboring (a local Davey Master Dealer), they come down really quickly and sort things out, they get the work done promptly.”
