Dryden Aqua is one of the largest manufacturers of glass filtration media. As marine biologists, Dryden Aqua have a unique knowledge combination and detailed understanding of the biological as well as the physio-chemical reactions in water. This has enabled us to develop and manufacture a highly innovative range of products such as the Activated Filter Media AFM®. Dryden Aqua provide sustainable and cost-effective solutions for the drinking and waste water industry, for aquaria and aquatic life support systems as well as for swimming pools worldwide.

AFM® Activated Filter Media is a direct replacement for sand, doubling the performance of sand filters without the need of additional investment in infrastructure. AFM® resists biofouling, bio coagulation and transient wormhole channeling of unfiltered water and never needs to be recharged or replaced.

AFM® is highly engineered product manufactured from a specific glass type, processed to obtain the optimum particle size and shape. It is then exposed to a 3-step activation process to become self-sterilizing and to acquire superior adsorption properties. Activation increases the surface area by up to 300 times for catalysis and adsorption reactions. Similar to activated carbon, the surface nano-structure adsorbs pollutants from the water but unlike carbon, AFM® is recharged by just back-washing with water.

AFM is manufactured from 100% recycled bottle glass from the region

The production process is 100% energy and water self-sufficient, using rainwater in a closed-loop filtration system and up to 850,000 kWh self-generated solar power per year

Waste (metal, paper, plastic) and non-target product (flint glass, CSP, fines) are separated and recycled or used in other industries. Sludge is responsibly disposed of (incinerator)
